The Olympic games are constantly changing with the flow of times, with the recent implementation of Olympic women’s boxing. But is it just me, or did no one else notice that there’s Olympic BMX? Well, it seems that the first Olympic BMX games were held in Beijing in 2008. It seems that the International Olympic Committee voted for having a BMX competition as a full medal Olympic sport in 2003. With this, the 2012 Olympics will be the first that has every cycling event that allows both men and women participating. I’m normally not used to seeing BMX outside the X Games competition, an event where you have a ton of extreme skaters, BMX riders, etc. Then again, I may have just stumbled onto this event recently because I happened to stay up late enough to see the coverage at 2 in the morning via NBC, who we all know has tons of criticism for their coverage on the 2012 Olympics. But hopefully we can see more coverage of this sport this Olympics and the Olympics to come.
