Santa Monica Classic 10K

May 1st, 2010

In 16 days am I really going to PR my 1:05:05 10K from 2008. I know it’s been a long time coming, but might as well try no? Here’s to hoping. Santa Monica Classic offers both a 5k and 10k option and registration is still open.

I’ll be the girl wearing a running skirt. (What? Don’t judge me, I did a freaking Ragnar Relay in that thing!)

Pirate Venice to Santa Monica Pub Run

April 6th, 2010

If you’re not doing the Ragnar Relay like me and my kick ass team and are looking to meet some really kick ass endurance athletes who are are also not on my team, you should get your booty over to the Westside and run a fancy (well it’s not fancy at all) 10K with some folks led by the legendary P-Dub or Peter Williams (aka LA Marathon social medialite) check out the Facebook Event for more info. Bummed that I can’t do this run since two of my all time favorite bars (Renee’s and The Shack) are both in the line up.

Running Dirty: A Guide To Mud Runs In Los Angeles

February 16th, 2010

I’ve been wanting to do a mud run similar to the type of race they do in Camp Pendleton (tons of dirt, obstacle course and usually a small team sign up) and have noticed that a lot of new ones have sprung up in Southern California. Now this is definitely a racing trend band wagon I will gladly jump right on top of. The only question is – which race should I do? Check these out:

Down and Dirty National Mud Run Series (April 25, 2010) 10k trail race with military obstacles.

Irvine Lake Mud Run (April 10, 2010) 5K trail race with 8 obstacles.

Warrior Dash (April 10, 11, 2010) 5K mud race with obstacles.

Eco Mud Run Tour (April 25, 2010) 5K trail race. Tire obstacles, walls, net crawl throughs.

Muddy Buddy (November 7, 2010) from the Competitor peeps, two person teams, one bike portion and trail run.

Camp Pendleton Mud Run (June 5, 6, 12 2010) the original gangsta of mud runs in Southern California. 10k obstacle run with mud walls, tunnel crawls and pit. Race alone or on team of 5.

At the moment, I’m leaning towards the Muddy Buddy (just need to find a buddy… oh and a bike). That’s only because April is not the best month for racing for me with my current race schedule. From the looks of it, April is definitely a good season for mud in L.A. (who knew?)

Chinatown Firecracker 10K 2010 Preview

November 21st, 2009

This video made my day! The very thought of “Eye of the Tiger” on any running playlist makes me cringe to be completely honest… However, the Mom and Pop lovability (is that a word?) of this race just makes it too cute. It’s one of my favorites in LA – can’t wait to run it again!
