Only one word can describe this remix. Dirty. Freaking LOVE this song. It’s officially my “power track” of the Summer (since we’re still in the season). Thomas Gold totally reinvents the wheel with the spin on this track.
Sidenote: Call me a bandwagoneer, but I totally love Adele’s voice.

I’m a pretty big Dirty Vegas fan, and don’t really see the need for any of their tracks being remixed… YET I am loving what Julien Nolan & Red-Eye did with this particular song. It’s a little more gritty and proggy than your normal run-of-the-mill (note: still awesome) Dirty Vegas tune. Highly recommend it for easy pace, slow runs… while wearing disco ball earrings.
Also great for a night running relay playlist. Did I mention I’m running two Ragnar Relays next year? This one is definitely making it on those training playlists!

Heard this track and it BLEW my mind during my training run. Happened to come up just as I was in the middle of hitting a wall, so it essentially saved me. This is the first time I’ve heard of these guys, but sounds like a lot of their stuff is dirty electro house… and who doesn’t love it dirty? The thing that got me hooked was the surprise sample of one of my all time favorite “I want to feel bad ass” tracks. Listen for yourself and you’ll know what I mean…

I just heard this remix a few days ago and immediately had to run to it – I have been listening to music via my iPhone for the past few weeks now… It’s just a happy go-lucky song that I couldn’t live without.
Take a listen for yourself. BTW – if you aren’t on Soundcloud (yes there’s an iPhone app for it) and are an electronic music addict like me you are missing out – like, a LOT.

Here’s a list of songs that usually seem fit for those times when it’s pitch black and there’s nothing out there but you and a headlamp. And possibly… a trailrunning ghost (well if you run at night at Griffith Park).

When it comes to picking running music, I take a few things into consideration: BPM (is it fast enough to match my stride?), QUALITY (is this Song/Album/Artist EPIC melt your face off?) and finally, MEANING. Meaning is something that I define as something personal in the song itself song (like a “powersong” or “pump you up theme song”).
As much fun as I have making playlists to match any occasion or type/length of run… there have been a few stand out ALBUMS that I have been known to take out for long runs (in consecutive weeks even!) The following is a HOT list of six albums I’ve used over the past year in from start to finish for either races or training (in no particular order).
The Bravery – Sun and Moon [Genre: Indie Rock]
If you like bands like The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and She Wants Revenge, you’ve probably already heard of The Bravery. I like Sun and Moon because they did TWO VERSIONS of the same album. Nice flow, good tempo and not too whiny for borderline Indie Emo music.
Tiesto – Kaliedoscope [Genre: Electronic/Dance/Trance]
This is a great album for glowstick raver runners (you know who you are). DJ Tiesto made [...]

Top 25 running songs for December. I pulled these today as an intentional mix of running songs of Christmas Past and Christmas Future. Most of these tend to represent a feeling I have during the holidays. Enjoy!

I have never wanted a pair of running pants so bad in my LIFE. Must have them or I will DIE!
Concept is simple: you power your MP3 player with your running. You stop, the music stops.

Here’s a selection of songs (a sampler playlist if you will) from my Malibu Half Marathon playlist. Mostly rock, metal and grungier type of music. I picked music that reminded me of the bad-ass rocker types who could still be found hanging out in certain beach towns like Malibu.
